Care as a Ministry/Mission
HCMI was founded to train people in a natural form
of health care, following as closely to biblical teaching and patterns
as we are able. According to the instructions God gave to the Hebrews
in the Law of Moses (Lev. 13:1-3), when someone became ill, he went
to the priest for diagnosis and treatment. It was the priest who
determined the source and type of illness and who suggested the
remedy. It is apparent that in God’s design, total care for
the people rested within the priesthood – care for their spirits,
their souls and their bodies. According to I Peter 2:9, we are “a
royal priesthood.” Every believer now has a responsibility
to relieve the suffering of mankind, whether that suffering be spiritual,
emotional or physical.
Many people think it is a positive sign of the
advancement of civilization that we have divided Religion, Psychology
and Internal Medicine into distinct and separate disciplines, but
a step away from the biblical model is not a step forward. The Creator
of man is also the Author of the Bible, and the instructions given
in the Scriptures reflect perfect knowledge of how man was made
and how he “works.” They recognize that man is spirit,
soul (emotions) and physical body, which all interconnect. Health
in one area is contingent on the health of the other areas. The
priests recognized these interactions and gave their advice depending
on the area that needed correction. According to the biblical model,
true health can only be achieved when there is harmony of the spiritual,
the emotional and the physical.
HCMI has focused its healthcare training on this
biblical model. We don't teach theology or psychology or medicine
-- not in the traditional sense, anyway. We do teach our students
the interaction of human trio (the spirit, soul and body) so that
the true source of the problem can be identified and corrected.
Once the cause is remedied, the symptoms are eliminated and medications
and surgery become unnecessary. (As you might imagine, we believe
surgery and medication should be last resorts, not first options.)
Our students learn natural, non-harmful, non-invasive methods that
identify the cause of any physical illness or disease a person might
have, and then create a natural program that works on correction
of the cause, not just the area of symptom manifestation. We call
this Total Body Analysis (TBA). To understand the principles we
teach at HCMI, you may want to review the five steps explained at
the Get Well, Stay Well link on the main menu.
Biblical Health Care
From Genesis (Gen. 1:29) to Revelation (Rev. 22:1-3), God made it
very clear that He is interested in how we care for our bodies and
that He has provided healing for them. God’s very first words
to the man and woman He had just created included the clear statement
that they were to consume the seed and fruit-yielding plants as
their (only) nourishment. The Creator thought that what we ate was
so important to our health and success that the first thing He gave
us was a menu! How can we be so deceived as to believe that what
we consume has no effect on the state of our health? Although there
were many factors that contributed to it, it is a significant fact
that man normally lived more than 900 years on a vegetarian diet!
Mankind chose to live their life in separation
from God's presence and became so wicked that God determined his
days should be decreased to 120 years (Gen. 6:3). Noah's flood drastically
changed the climate, geography and atmosphere of the earth. When
Noah and his family emerged after it was over, God gave them similar
instructions as He had Adam and Eve, but with significant adjustments
including the fact that they were now allowed to eat plants as well
as animals (Gen. 9:3).
