Centipedes

Beetle

Most centipedes are venomous to a certain extent, but generally the venom is only dangerous to the small insects that they eat. There are a few larger centipedes that can deliver a lethal dose of pain with their venom, but a centipede bite is rarely life threatening. Centipede bite marks resemble snake bite marks in the way that two tiny puncture marks are seen at the spot. A centipede does not deliver the poison with its teeth or jaws. Instead, the structures that "bite" are actually the modified first legs of the centipede. These legs are called "maxillipedes." A venom gland lies near the base of the maxillipedes so that once the centipede inserts its maxillipedes into the skin of its victim, the venom flows out into the wound.

Centipede toxin contains chemicals that dissolve proteins and other chemicals that can be toxic to the heart although most people will never feel any effects. The rippling pain seems to come from two chemicals known as serotonin and histamine. You may experience severe swelling, chills, fever and weakness, and people with severe allergies to bee stings can experience anaphylactic shock.

One story of a man bitten by a large centipede (while he slept) in Hawaii said that within 15 minutes his hand was double the size. The pain was absolutely excruciating! The swelling lasted a full week and even after it went away, he would have relapse pain every three weeks or so with itching at the bite site even though it all looked normal and healed. Obviously that meant the toxin was not eliminated from his tissues. In this case, the man went to the emergency room and was given pain medicine and antibiotics, neither of which could actually help with the problem.

centipede

The highest reported centipede bites occur in Hawaii. One of the most common home remedies is to apply a small amount of urine topically to the bite site. The Urea and Ammonia in the urine neutralize many of the toxins and greatly reduce the pain. Any urine will work, it does not have to be your own (though that may be preferred).

Our Centipede Detox Remedy will detoxify negative or foreign forms of serotonin, histamine, along with hyaluronidase and hemolytic toxins.

Beetle

Beetle Detox Information

Blister beetles carry a very powerful and toxic poison called cantharidin, but unlike other types of insects, it does not deliver its most toxic poison through biting. The cantheradin is found on the beetles exoskeleton and actually causes blisters to form on skin that it comes into contact with. Male blister beetles share the cantharidin toxin with the female during the mating process by using it to cover their eggs to protect them from predators.

This poison is a significant problem for animals that eat hay, particularly alfalfa, since blister beetles like to eat alfalfa as well. When the crops are harvested, the beetles are often killed in the process and contaminate the crops with their body parts and fluids. This causes illness in the animals that eat the contaminated feed. Cured hay does not lose toxicity, nor does the age of hay affect its levels of cantharidin.

Once infected crops are eaten, the beetles can cause severe skin inflammation and blisters. When it becomes absorbed by your intestines, cantharadin can even cause high temperature, depression, increased heart rate and respiration, dehydration, sweating, and severe diarrhea. If ingested by a horse, their calcium level drops in addition to disintegration of heart muscle tissue. This toxin becomes deadly when a sufficient quantity is ingested. The poison from 50 beetles is enough to kill a horse! Dead or alive the beetles poison remains at toxic levels, especially when ingested. Horses often eat the beetles in their hay feed and can get fairly sick, even die from eating too many beetles in their feed.

Our Beetle Detox Remedy works to antidote cantharidin.

Bee & Wasp

Bee & Wasp Detox Information

Whether it is from a hornet, yellow jacket, wasp or honey bee, stings hurt! Most people will have only a localized reaction to a bee sting. The normal reaction to a bee sting is for the skin to turn red and feel painful. Swelling and/or itching may also occur, but the pain usually disappears within a few hours. Symptoms vary from local reactions of pain to redness at the sting site and/or the formation of a wheal (raised bump usually pale in color). Localized itching is common and redness in the first 24 hours can become as large as 12 to 18 inches in diameter. Within this large local reaction sting site, swelling, redness, and pain may persist for up to a week. Areas adjacent to the site of the skin may also be involved in the large local reaction.

In a systemic allergic reaction, the entire body is affected. The victim may develop hives, redness, or swelling at sites on the body distant from the site of the sting. This is NOT a good sign. Symptoms can also include vomiting, nausea , diarrhea, and dizziness. In anaphylactic reactions, victims experience wheezing, difficulty breathing, and a drop in blood pressure that leads to shock if not treated promptly. Most anaphylactic reactions do occur within the first 15 to 30 minutes. 60% of reactions occur in the first hour and the remaining 40% occur within 3 to 4 hours. If there is not a severe reaction within 5 hours, the chances are very good that one will not occur. People who know they are highly allergic may carry around epinephrine in the form of a self-injectable EpiPen for the treatment of an anaphylactic shock.

The first step in treatment following a bee sting is removal of the stinger itself. Only honey bees leave the stinger and poison gland; yellow jackets, wasps, and hornets do not. The stinger should be removed as quickly as possible, there is no right or wrong way. A delay of even a few seconds leads to more venom being injected. Bee venom is acidic as it contains the highly acidic peptide melittin. Anything that will reduce the acidity will relieve the pain. The problem is that the acidity is active under the tissue and skin, so it is hard to apply an effective alkalizer. There are many HOME REMEDIES rumored to work, but it is hard to beat the effectiveness of an ice cube or some commercial toothpaste on the sting site. Within 20 minutes the pain should go from a 10 down to a 2 or better.

The Bee Detox Remedy helps the body detoxify apitoxin, melittin, phospholipase A2, hyaluronidase, apamin, kinins, histamine and alarm pheromones. Detoxification of these poisons and related toxins will help the body be much less reactive to bee venom so fear of anaphylaxis will no longer be an issue.

Bed Bug

Bed Bug Detox Information

All insects in this family live by feeding exclusively on the blood of warm-blooded animals. The name "bed bug" is derived from the insect's preferred habitat of houses, especially beds or other areas where people sleep. Bed bugs are not strictly nocturnal, but are usually active at night and are capable of feeding unnoticed on their hosts. They have been categorized under a variety of names including: wall louse, mahogany flat, crimson rambler, heavy dragoon, chinche and redcoat.

Bed bugs are attracted to their hosts primarily by carbon dioxide, then by warmth or by certain chemicals. It takes between five to ten minutes for a bed bug to become completely engorged with blood and return to its hiding place. Although bed bugs can live for a year without feeding, they normally try to feed every five to ten days. In cold weather bed bugs can live for about a year. In temperatures that are more conducive to activity and feeding, their life span is about 5 months.

Bed bugs have been recognized as human parasites for thousands of years. Bed bug bites or cimicosis can lead to a range of skin manifestations from no visible effects to prominent blisters. A number of health effects may occur due to bed bugs including: skin rashes, psychological effects, and allergic reactions. They are able to be infected by at least 28 human pathogens, including MRSA! Bed bugs are elusive and usually nocturnal, which can make them hard to spot. They often lodge unnoticed in dark crevices and eggs can be nestled in fabric seams. In addition to bite sites, signs include: fecal spots, blood smears on sheets, and molts.

Dwellings can become infested with bed bugs in these various ways:

  • Bugs and eggs that "hitchhiked in" on pets, clothing and luggage
  • Infested items, like furniture or clothing, when purchased
  • Nearby dwellings or infested items, if there are easy routes (through duct work or false ceilings)
  • Wild animals (such as bats or birds)[39][40]
  • People visiting from a source of infestation as bed bugs, like roaches, are transferred by clothing, luggage, or a person's body.

Bed bugs can inhabit solely, but often congregate once established. They usually remain close to hosts, commonly in or near beds or couches. Harborage areas can vary greatly and may include luggage, vehicles, furniture and bedside clutter. Bed bugs may also inhabit near animals that have nested within a dwelling such as bats, birds, or rodents. The eggs of bed bugs are found in similar places where the bed bugs themselves are found and attach to surfaces by a sticky substance.

Bed bugs can be detected by their characteristic smell of cilantro, coriander, almonds or over-ripe raspberries. If you suspect bed bugs, there are several ways to destroy them:

  1. Diatomaceous Earth. According to many reports, diatomaceous earth has been proven to be an effective bed bug killer for the home. This insecticide, made from the fossilized remains of hard-shelled algae, is both environmentally friendly and non-toxic. The diatomaceous earth fine powder contains razor sharp particles that cut the waxy cuticle covering the bed bugs' exosekeleton, causing them to die with contact. Apply diatomaceous earth along the base boards and rub it in the carpets after each vacuuming to eliminate and prevent the spread of bed bugs. It is not harmful or toxic to humans in any way.
  2. Heat & Steam. Heat is highly effective at exterminating bed bugs and their eggs. Like humans, bed bugs cannot survive extreme heat. The thermal death point for the common bed bug is 120 °F so washing bed linens and clothes in the dryer with this thermal setting will generally kill all bed bugs. For larger items that cannot be washed with hot water such as mattresses, the use of hot steam from a professional grade bed bug steamer is effective at killing bed bugs and their eggs instantaneously even if they are hidden deep within the pores of the mattress. To be an effective bed bug steamer, experts recommend that the steam from the cleaner needs to be above 200 °F. The 120 °F temperature will kill bed bugs on contact, but not those that are hidden deep inside a mattress or sofa.
  3. Mattress Encasement. One study showed that after 10 years, a mattress could weigh many pounds more than it did when you bought it just from the amount of bed bugs living in it. If you are getting bitten regularly from bed bugs, buy a new mattress or bed bug mattress covers that are an effective non-chemical remedy to get immediate relief and comfort from the bed bug bites. These encasements seal off the entire mattress leaving no gap for the bed bugs to enter or escape through. These encasements should also be used for your pillows as well. You will need to keep the covers on for at least a year to eventually kill any bed bugs trapped within.
  4. Red Cedar Oil. Often used by the military as a safe, effective remedy for repelling bed bugs, you can find this online and use as directed.

If you suspect your house is infested:

  • Rent a professional steamer and steam your entire house.
  • Steam or wrap your mattress, then pull the bed away from the wall to prevent bed bugs from crawling from the wall onto the bed.
  • Apply double-sided duct tape around each leg of the bed to act as a sticky barrier from the crawling bugs. Do not let any clothing or items hang off the bed and touch the floor.
  • Keep all animals out of your home.

NEVER let pets sleep in your bed and it is best that they do not sleep in your favorite chair or sofa. Our Bed Bug Remedy helps the body detoxify the various toxins that can be transferred to humans through the Bed Bug Bite.

Ants

Ant Detox Information

The harvester ant is considered the most venomous of all insects. It can be aggressive and have a painful sting that spreads through the lymph nodes, sometimes causing reactions, especially in animals allergic to their venom. Some ants bite and inject formic acid into the wound, but the most feared ant bite is from the red ant. Unlike many other ants, fire ants do not truly bite, they sting. The fire ant will bite with its pinchers, but that is only to get a tight grip on you. Then their sting comes from their abdomen and inject a toxic alkaloid venom called solenopsin. One welt can be the result of ten stings. They hold on with their pinchers and continue to sting as they circle the original site. This can result in a pea sized welt. They can then move to a different area and continue stinging you.

The venom of fire ants is composed of alkaloids. The sting swells into a bump which can often cause significant pain and irritation, especially when stung repeatedly by several ants. The bump often forms into a white pustule. If you scratch it infection can develop, but if you can leave it alone, it will usually flatten within a few days. The pustules are obtrusive and uncomfortable while active and if the sting sites become infected, they can turn into scars. Some people may also be allergic to the venom and may experience anaphylaxis, which requires emergency treatment.

There are many home remedies that claim they help reduce the "firing itch" of the ant bite. One of the best is a bar of soap! Barely wet the corner tip of it (you can use saliva) and massage it in a circular motion into the insect bites until the soap starts drying up or feels like a sticky film. This usually takes around 5 minutes. Once it is dry or sticky, you will feel instant relief, very soothing!

Our Ant Detox remedy is not a miracle cure for the removal of the pain or itching. Our remedy is for those who have been injected by a secondary toxin at the same time as the ''sting'' or for those who have severe reactions to the toxins in ant bites and need to boost their immune response to it. Our Ant Detox addresses the effects of solenopsin, piperidine, Isosolenopsin A (cis-2-methyl-6-undecylpiperidine) and formic acid.

ARTHROPOD

The Arthropod / Vector Detox Remedies represent detox assistance for various toxins and poisons associated with the not so friendly biting/stinging critters. You might think of these as the “where did it come from” remedies. The word Vector in this case means, origin or source.

These quantum remedies can be administered immediately after being assaulted by one of the listed Arthropods, but are also useful after the bite/sting incident, even after all signs of the local bite or sting site have vanished.

It is possible that the venom or poison from any bite or sting remains in the tissues of the body long after the initial bite or sting. It is also possible that it came with additional contaminants. For instance, when a mosquito bites an animal or person, it draws the blood with all the bacteria and germs that are in that animal or person. The next person or animal that mosquito finds, has now been exposed to anything that mosquito carried from the first bite. Now you have not only the toxin that naturally comes with the bite or sting, but the germ and bacteria that the insect was carrying.

In addition: When the body becomes exposed to something it interprets as harmful, it creates a memory of it and then associates the harmful germ with the memory of the bite or sting. Let’s use our mosquito analogy again. The mosquito bites you and infects you with bacteria. The body recognizes the invasion and alerts the immune system. Unfortunately, it associates the bite with the bacteria, so every time you are bit by a mosquito, the body thinks it is getting re-infected even if there are no additional bacteria in the next mosquito bite. The reaction to the bite now is interpreted as dangerous to your health, a high alert, making mosquito bites much more reactive than they would be if the body did not have this faulty message system running. Severe reactions and Anaphylactic threats are not normal responses, there is often a deeper reason for that allergic response. Avoiding the insect isn’t always the easiest to do, and avoidance is not a solution. The remedies listed on this page were designed to address the various toxins and poisons known to be associated with that animal. Remember that just because you do not have evidence at the original bite/sting site, these toxins may still be lodged in body tissues causing or contributing to your health complaints.  Use our On-line Consultation to help figure out your situation.
